HyunKyung Park

TVET Project Manager at UNESCO Iraq

Ms. HyunKyung Park, TVET Project Manager at UNESCO Iraq since March 2023. She works as a Project Manager for the “Enhancing Employability for Youth in Ninawa Project” in the UNESCO Iraq office. The Project focuses on Quality Assurance and Accreditation, Competency-Based Pedagogy, and the linkage between the labour market and TVET institutions as well as Youth.

Before she joined UNESCO, Ms. PARK worked in the UNDP Iraq office as a Programme Analyst for the Iraq Crisis Response and Resilience Programme, which was focused on livelihood support (Vocational Training, Cash for Work, on-the-job training, and small grants) for the newly liberated governorates. In UNDP Afghanistan office she worked as a Project Manager for the “Enhancing Gender Equality and Mainstreaming in Afghanistan” and “Supporting the Economic Empowerment of Afghan Women through Education and Training in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan” mainly supporting Afghan Women’s Economic Empowerment. In UN Women Ukraine, she was managing the Portfolio of Women Peace and Security especially focused on Women’s Participation in Politics. She has worked in various UN Agencies and NGOs in Iraq, Afghanistan, the Philippines, Myanmar, the U.S.A., and the Republic of Korea. Her professional experience includes Education, Women’s economic empowerment, Livelihood, and project management.

Ms. PARK has a master’s degree in Conflict Resolution and Coexistence from Brandeis University (MA, U.S.A.), a master’s degree in Responsible Management and sustainable economic development from the University for Peace in Costa Rica, and a Bachelor’s degree in Education.
