Dr. Katarina Komenska

Academic Background; PHD in Moral Philosophy (finished in 2013). And Master in Education of English Language and Literature and Moral Philosophy (double major).

Nationality: Slovak

Languages; Slovak, English, German (Fluent), and Russian (moderate)

 

She is a humanitarian and development aid worker with over 5 years of experience, significant part of these experiences gained from implementing projects in the Middle East and North Africa region. Previously, she worked for 10 years in Slovakia as a researcher in Moral Philosophy, cooperating on projects with universities from all around Europe.


Her research is in global ethics, systematic ethics, and environmental and animal ethics with special interest paid into how to implement these topics into the education process. Her published work includes book “Animal ethics (from the Perspective of ethics of social consequences)” (2014), and a chapter in collective monograph, “The Moral Motivation of Humanitarian Actors (2018)”. She led a working group of ethics and civic education in a project on Global Education in Slovakia (2018-2019). 


Currently, she works as a Country Director for Iraq in organization People in Need and actively supports development and implementation of the education programming in Iraq and Kurdistan region of Iraq.
